In 2002 North Korea released a series of 12 half chon coins. Although the official exchange rate in North Korea is 141 won to the U.S. Dollar, the market rate is 2500 to 3000 won to the dollar (source: CIA World Factbook). This means that the half chon coins have an official value of .0035 cents and a spending value of less than .0002 cents, making them one of the few aluminum coins were the intrinsic value far exceeds it's face value.
